Dates and organisation :
One week in the desert, on foot and camel-riding.
This is an adventure where your heart will become bigger every day, where your spirit will sing with the wind, whilst the earth and the sky celebrate their sacred wedding beyond space and time.
You will visit the most amazingly green oasis and traditional nomadic camps, making the hike worth while ! You will also discover the town of Chinguetti, reborn from the invading sand so many times, with its private libraries full of ancient manuscripts and documents dating back to almost a thousand years. So much knowledge to marvel at ! The softness and kindness of the people will touch your soul and parting will be very hard...
We fly from Paris to Atar with Point-Afrique, a long time specialist in African journeys. In Mauritania, a local team of desert people will look after us, cook for us and guide us through multi-colored sand dunes into the desert. We sleep in igloo tents or under the starlit sky. Camels carry our luggage so that we need to take only the minimum along with us. Our main luxury is a few extra riding camels - wonderful when feet are sore, the body is tired or you simply want to experience letting go from high above.
1st day Paris-Atar and transfer by 4x4 to Chinguetti
2nd day Visit of Chinguetti, its libraries and museums, a women´s organisation.
3rd-7th day 5 day hike via the beautiful oasis of Lagueila which nestles amidst impressive sand dunes, the famous roaring dunes of Nayana and back passing the nomadic settlements of the Chinguetti oued. Approximately 5 hours hike a day.
8th day On our way back to Atar airport we´ll visit some rock paintings.
A good physical and psychological condition is necessary.
Participants are aware of the risks incurred (for instance, no medical facilities in the vicinity). In case of accidents, illnesses, losses or theft they will not hold the organisers, guides or third parties responsible. Apart from the insurance included in the air fare concerning the Point-Afrique flight, participants will take out their own insurances. They will follow rules and advice given by the tour guides.

In case of cancellation by participant up to one monthe prior to departure,CHF250 will be refunded. Thereafter no refund is possible. In case of cancellation by the organisers, full amount will be refunded.
